At the beginning of the Triodion season, on Sunday, February 1st, 2026, with the permission and encouragement of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the ordination to the episcopacy of the Most Reverend Bishop-elect Bartholomew of Elaia was celebrated at the Saint George Cathedral of Stockholm. The service took place in an atmosphere of prayerful devotion, marked by the necessary simplicity, as well as ecclesiastical reverence and dignity. On Thursday, January 29th, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. (Swedish time), the 8th consecutive meeting with Catechumens and newly illumined faithful will take place at the premises of the Saint George Cathedral of Stockholm (Birger Jarlsgatan 92, 114 20 Stockholm). On the afternoon of Thursday, January 15th, 2026, the 7th consecutive meeting with Catechumens and newly illumined faithful took place at the premises of the Saint George Cathedral of Stockholm (Birger Jarlsgatan 92, 11420). Following the exchange of New Year’s greetings and the presentation of the newly elected Bishop of Elaia, His Grace Bartholomew, until now Parish Priest of the Cathedral, His Eminence Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden addressed the gathering of Catechumens in English.
