Invitation to St. Demetrios Parish Thyranoixia in Örebro

Dearly Beloved Stewards and Friends of the Metropolis of Sweden and All Scandinavia,

It is with great pleasure that I take the honor of inviting you to attend the special grand opening dedication ceremony of the Saints Demetrios and Nestor Greek Orthodox Parish (Björkrisvägen 18, 70234 Örebro), on October 26, 2024.

Your presence at the Thyranoixia (“Door Opening”) Ceremony and subsequent Divine Liturgy would serve as a great honor for the Holy Metropolis of Sweden, on this most auspicious day.

Services will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the Matins Service, followed by the Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m., and the Thyranoixia Ceremony, and ending with a luncheon at 12 noon.

This ceremony shall mark the entrance into a new era for the spiritual life of our Metropolis and the city of Örebro, with the official opening of the doors of the new parish. This service will coincide with the feast day of these great saints, as observed in the Orthodox Christian calendar, and will represent a milestone for Orthodoxy in Scandinavia with the opening of a new church, where holy services will henceforth be regularly celebrated (Orthros, at 9 am and the Divine Liturgy, at 10 am).

I hope that you will grace us with your presence on the morning of October 26^th to attend the dedication service, Divine Liturgy, and join us in the celebratory complementary luncheon that will be offered afterwards.

As a place of ceaseless prayer and contemplation, the new parish will seek to offer a positive contribution to the spiritual, cultural, and general progress of the region, maintaining excellent relations with all the local authorities and the outlying community.

You and your loved ones are always welcome to visit it, for a respite from worldly affairs and an opportunity to contemplate and pray.
