Με την θερμοκρασία να εγγίζει τους 15 βαθμούς κελσίου υπό του μηδενός, ο Σεβ. Μητροπολίτης Σουηδίας και πάσης Σκανδιναυΐας κ. Κλεόπας, συνοδευόμενος από τον Πανοσιολ. Αρχιμανδρίτη κ. Αλέξανδρο Λουκάτο, Προϊστάμενο του Μητροπολιτικού Ναού Ευαγγελισμού της Θεοτόκου Όσλο, πραγματοποίησε την έβδομη ποιμαντορική του περιοδεία στο Ρέικιαβικ της Ισλανδίας, το διήμερο 14 και 15 Ιανουαρίου 2023, με αφορμή την είσοδο στο νέο έτος 2023, ώστε να ανταλλάξει εκ του σύνεγγυς εόρτιες ευχές με το ποίμνιο της Μητρός Εκκλησίας της Κωνσταντινουπόλεως, που ζει και εργάζεται στο Ρέικιαβικ και που, σύμφωνα με τις πλέον πρόσφατες κρατικές στατιστικές, πλησιάζει τα 600 πρόσωπα.

Οι δύο κληρικοί αφίχθησαν στο Ρέικιαβικ, το Σάββατο, 14 Ιανουαρίου, όπου τους υπεδέχθη στο αεροδρόμιο ο Επίτιμος Πρόξενος της Ελλάδος στην Ισλανδία Εντιμ. κ. Rafn Alexander Sigurdsson. Το ίδιο βράδυ, ο Μητροπολίτης και ο π. Αλέξανδρος παρακάθησαν σε δείπνο, σε εστιατόριο της πόλης, όπου ευγενώς προσέφερε προς τιμήν τους, ο κ. Sigurdsson και η σύζυγός του, Ευγεν. κ. Anna Juliana Sveinsdottir.

Την επομένη, Κυριακή, 15 Ιανουαρίου, ο Ποιμενάρχης προέστη της Θείας Λειτουργίας, η οποία τελέστηκε στο παρεκκλήσιο Rev. Friðrik Friðriksson, με την συμμετοχή του π. Αλεξάνδρου.

Στο κήρυγμά του, ο Μητροπολίτης μίλησε για την αχαριστία των εννέα λεπρών και την ευγνωμοσύνη του δεκάτου, που γύρισε και προσκύνησε, δόξασε και ευχαρίστησε τον Θεό για την μεγάλη Του δωρεά προς αυτόν. Υπενθύμισε στους πιστούς ότι ,“η δοξολογία του Θεού κατέχει μια από τις πιο κεντρικές θέσεις στην λατρευτική μας παράδοση, γι᾽ αυτό και οι άγγελοι, οι απόστολοι, οι μάρτυρες και οι όλοι οι άγιοι υμνούν και δοξολογούν τον Θεό ακατάπαυστα και τα πάντα καλούν τον κάθε πιστό σ’ αυτή την δοξολογική στάση και σχέση, σε κάθε στιγμή της ζωής του.”

Στην συνέχεια, ο Σεβασμιώτατος τέλεσε την ακολουθία του αγιασμού των Θεοφανείων, την κοπή της βασιλόπιτας της ενορίας και τον σαραντισμό των νεογέννητων βρεφών Όλγας και Αθανασίου, τέκνων οικογενειών που διαβιούν στο Ρέικιαβικ, απευθύνοντας, επίσης, πατρικές ευχές για το νέο έτος και εκφράζοντας την χαρά του για την επικοινωνία και συναναστροφή του με το ολονέν αυξανόμενο ποίμνιο της ενορίας Αποστόλου Βαρθολομαίου Ρέϊκιαβικ.

Ιδιαιτέρως, εξέφρασε την ευγνωμοσύνη του προς τον κ. Sigurdsson, για την αμέριστη συμπαράστασή του στην διοργάνωση των ποιμαντικών επισκέψεών του στο Ρέικιαβικ, τον π. Αλέξανδρο και τον Μητροπολιτικό Ναό του Όσλο, για την συγκινητική συνδρομή τους στο έργο της Ι. Μητροπόλεως και των ιεραποστολικών περιοδειών του, καθώς και την κ. Βάσω Κατσαρού, μέλος του Εκκλησιαστικού Συμβουλίου της ως άνω ενορίας, για την προσφορά της βασιλόπιτας και των εδεσμάτων που προσεφέρθησαν στους παρόντες πιστούς.

Στην ευχαριστιακή σύναξη παρευρέθησαν, εκτός των ανωτέρω, ο κ. Ευάγγελος Δημητρόπουλος, Πρόεδρος του Συλλόγου Ελλήνων Ισλανδίας, μέλη της ενορίας και νεοαφιχθέντες αδελφοί μας εξ Ελλάδος.

Το μεσημέρι της ιδίας, ο Σεβασμιώτατος και ο π. Αλέξανδρος συναντήθηκαν με μέλη του εκκλησιαστικού συμβουλίου της ενορίας και μέλη της, στην οποία συμμετείχε και ο πρόεδρος του Συλλόγου Ελλήνων Ισλανδίας.

Το πρωΐ της Δευτέρας, 16 Ιανουαρίου, ο Μητροπολίτης Κλεόπας επέστρεψε στην έδρα της Επαρχίας του στην Στοκχόλμη και ο π. Αλέξανδρος στο Όσλο.

STOCKHOLM – With temperatures hovering around negative 15 degrees Celsius, His Eminence Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden and All Scandinavia, accompanied by the Very. Rev. Archimandrite Alexandros Loukatos, Presiding Priest of the Metropolitan Church of the Annunciation of the Theotokos in Oslo, made his seventh pastoral visit to Reykjavik, Iceland on the weekend of January 14-15, 2023 to see the flock of the Mother Church of Constantinople who live and work in Reykjavik and personally exchange holiday wishes with them for the new year. According to the most recent statistics, the number of faithful is now approaching 600 persons.

The two clergymen arrived in Reykjavik on Sat. January 14^th, where they were met at the airport by the Honorary Consul of Greece in Iceland Hon. Mr.  Rafn Alexander Sigurdsson. That evening, the Metropolitan and Fr. Alexandros attended a dinner at a local restaurant kindly offered by their hosts Mr. Sigurdsson and his wife Mrs. Anna Juliana Sveinsdottir.

The next day, Sun. January 15^th, Metropolitan Cleopas celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Rev. Friðrik Friðriksson chapel, assisted by Fr. Alexandros.

In his sermon, the Metropolitan spoke about the day’s Gospel reading, noting the ungratefulness of the nine lepers and the gratitude of the tenth, who returned to praise and thank God for the great gift He offered him. He reminded the faithful that “glorifying God occupies one of the central positions in our liturgical tradition, which is why the angels, apostles, martyrs, and all the saints praise and glorify God ceaselessly and always call on every faithful to join them in this doxological outlook and relationship during every moment of their lives.”

Afterward, Metropolitan Cleopas celebrated the service of the blessing of the water for Epiphany, cut the parish’s vasilopita, and churched two newborn babies, Olga and Athanasios, who are children of families living in Reykjavik. He also extended his paternal wishes for the new year and expressed his joy for the opportunity to communicate and interact with the growing flock of the St. Bartholomew the Apostle Parish in Reykjavik.

He especially expressed his gratitude to Mr. Sigurdsson for his unwavering support in organizing the pastoral visits to Reykjavik, to Fr. Alexandros and the Metropolitan Church in Oslo for their touching contribution to the ministry of the Holy Metropolis and the Metropolitan’s missionary visits, as well as to Mrs. Vaso Katsarou, a council member of the aforementioned parish, for offering the vasilopita and the reception that followed for all the faithful in attendance.

Aside from the aforementioned persons, Mr. Evangelos Demetropoulos, President of the Hellenic Society of Iceland, parish members, and newly arrived brethren from Greece also attended the liturgical gathering.

That afternoon, Metropolitan Cleopas and Fr. Alexandros met with parish council members and parish members, with the president of the Hellenic Society of Iceland also participating in the meeting.

On Monday morning, January 16^th, Metropolitan Cleopas returned to the see of his eparchy in Stockholm, while Fr. Alexandros returned to Oslo.

Reverend Members of the Clergy,

Honorable Representatives of the local Christian denominations and civic authorities,

Dearly Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We have gathered here today to honor the memory of the late Pope Benedict XVI (16^th) and offer our fraternal condolences to our Roman Catholic friends for the passing of a historic pope, a world-renowned theologian, and a religious leader who left an indelible mark on the Roman Catholic Church, contributed to the promotion of inter-denominational and inter-religious dialogue.

First and foremost, allow me to convey the deepest condolences and fervent prayers of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on the falling asleep of this seminal churchman and widely respected religious leader of global proportions. Together with the sentiments of the spiritual leader of the world’s Orthodoxy, kindly allow me to also convey my own sympathies and prayers, along with those of the Holy Metropolis of Sweden and All Scandinavia.

For Orthodox Christians, the repose in the Lord of this former bishop of Rome and pope emeritus affects it in a very personal way, beyond just the due honor and respect afforded to the leader of an ancient sister Church. According to the personal account of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Pope Benedict “had deeply influenced a number of Orthodox students” including two who would go on to rise to senior positions within the Church hierarchy – the ever-memorable Metropolitans Damaskinos of Switzerland and Stylianos of Australia.

As proof of his commitment to interdenominational dialogue and as a reflection of the significance he attributed to relations with the Eastern Orthodox Church, just 18 months into his papacy, Pope Benedict XVI personally attended the Thronal Feast of the Ecumenical Patriarchate on November 30, 2006, marking the renewal of the official theological dialogue between our two churches.

Less than two years later, in October 2008, Pope Benedict invited Patriarch Bartholomew to deliver a formal, central presentation—on “the word of God in the life and mission of the church”—to more than four hundred cardinals and bishops during the Twelfth General Ordinary Assembly of the Synod of Bishops of the Roman Catholic Church. The historic event, which was held in the Sistine Chapel, marked the first time that a Pope of Rome had asked an Orthodox Patriarch to offer a keynote address to a global synod of bishops. According to Patriarch Bartholomew, “it was an immense gift and invaluable honor, which shall always be treasured in the depth of my heart and in the history of our church.”

As I conclude, allow me to share with you a few excerpts from the historical document signed by Pope Benedict and Patriarch Bartholomew in November 2006, paving the way for the resumption of theological dialogue. “We must strengthen our cooperation and our common witness before the world… We should encourage the establishment of closer relationships between Christians, and of an authentic and honest interreligious dialogue, with a view to combating every form of violence and discrimination . . . committing ourselves to the renewed service of humanity and the defense of human life, every human life.”

With these thoughts in mind, I leave you today reiterating the support and love of the Orthodox Christian Church and our continual commitment to dialogue. Let us follow the example of Patriarch Bartholomew and Pope Benedict, as well as his successor Pope Francis, and let us continue to work toward unity and Christian reconciliation. May the Lord grant rest to the soul of the ever-memorable Pope Benedict. Eternal be his memory. Amen.

Το Γκέτεμποργκ της Σουηδίας επισκέφθηκε την παραμονή των Χριστουγέννων, 24 Δεκεμβρίου 2022, ο Σεβ. Μητροπολίτης Σουηδίας και πάσης Σκανδιναυΐας κ. Κλεόπας, για να συμπαρασταθεί στην δοκιμασία που προσφάτως υπεβλήθη το ποίμνιο της Μητρός Εκκλησίας και να επιθεωρήσει τις ζημίες που υπέστησαν οι εγκαταστάσεις του Ιερού Ναού Αγίας Τριάδος, εξαιτίας των ισχυρών βροχοπτώσεων, που έπληξαν την περιοχή τις προηγούμενες ημέρες.

Η Ιερά Μητρόπολις απέστειλε πάραυτα ειδικό συνεργείο, το οποίο τοποθέτησε στο ναό αφυγραντήρες, απομακρύνοντας προηγουμένως τα όμβρια ύδατα.

Λόγω του ότι ο ναός θα είναι εκτός λειτουργίας μέχρι την αποκατάστασή του, η προγραμματισμένη για το Σάββατο, 24 Δεκεμβρίου 2022 Θεία Λειτουργία, κατόπιν παρακλήσεως του Ποιμενάρχου προς τον Σεβ. Αρχιεπίσκοπο της Συροϊακωβιτικής Κοινότητος Σουηδίας κ. Benjamin, τελέστηκε στον παραχωρηθέντα προς τούτο ναό του Αγίου Ιωάννου της Συροϊακωβιτικής Κοινότητος Γκέτεμποργκ.

Την Θεία Λειτουργία τέλεσε ο Πανοσιολ. Αρχιμανδρίτης κ. Αλέξανδρος
Λουκάτος, Προϊστάμενος του Μητροπολιτικού Ναού Ευαγγελισμού της Θεοτόκου
Όσλο, ο οποίος μετέβη οδικώς στο Γκέτεμποργκ, χοροστατούντος του Σεβ. Ποιμενάρχου.

Στην Θεία Λειτουργία εκκλησιάστηκε ικανός αριθμός ενοριτών από την ευρύτερη περιοχή, ιδιαιτέρως νέες οικογένειες με τα παιδιά τους.

Στην ομιλία του προς τα παιδιά, κατά την ώρα του Κοινωνικού, ο Επίσκοπος μίλησε για την σπουδαιότητα της εορτής των Χριστουγέννων και για την προσωπικότητα και την φιλανθρωπία του Μεγάλου Βασιλείου, ο δε π. Αλέξανδρος ανέγνωσε την Χριστουγεννιάτικη Επισκοπική Εγκύκλιο.

Στην λατρευτική σύναξη παρέστη ο επίτιμος Πρόξενος της Ελλάδος στο Γκέτεμποργκ Εντιμ. κ. Χρήστος Κακαζούκης με τους γονείς του, τον οποίο ο Ποιμενάρχης ευχαρίστησε για την συμπαράστασή του στο έργο της Ιεράς Μητροπόλεως. Ο κ. Πρόξενος καλωσόρισε τον Σεβασμιώτατο και ευχήθηκε στους εκκλησιαζόμενους για τις εορτές.

Ο Επίσκοπος, απευθυνθείς στον εφημέριο της Συροϊακωβιτικής Κοινότητος Γκέτεμποργκ Αιδ. κ. Βesim Kurt, τον ευχαρίστησε για την παραχώρηση του ναού, προσφέροντας σε αυτόν τον τιμητικό Τόμο της Πατριαρχικής επισκέψεως του 2019 και την τρίγλωσση έκδοση της Θείας Λειτουργίας του ιερού Χρυσοστόμου.

Ο Σεβασμιώτατος ευχήθηκε για την εορτή των Χριστουγέννων και εξέφρασε την αμέριστη συμπαράσταση της τοπικής Εκκλησίας καθόλης και του ιδίου προσωπικώς για την πρόσφατη δοκιμασία και δεσμεύτηκε ότι θα πράξει το παν για την αποκατάσταση των ζημιών στο ναό της Αγίας Τριάδος.

Ενημέρωσε, επίσης, τους ενορίτες του Γκέτεμποργκ ότι η επόμενη ήδη προγραμματισθείσα Θεία Λειτουργία στην περιοχή θα τελεσθεί την Κυριακή, 8 Ιανουαρίου 2023, από τον Πανοσιολ. Αρχιμανδρίτη κ. Σωσίπατρο Στεφανούδη, στην Toleredskyrkan, στην διεύθυνση Vinlandsgatan 2, 417 29 Göteborg, την οποία θα παραχωρήσει ευγενώς η Λουθηρανική Επισκοπή του Γκέτεμποργκ.

Ακολούθησε επίσκεψη του Σεβασμιωτάτου και της συνοδείας του, αποτελουμένη από τους κ. Κακαζούκη, π. Αλέξανδρο και ενορίτες του Γκέτεμποργκ, στις εγκαταστάσεις του Ιερού Ναού Αγίας Τριάδος, όπου ιδίοις όμμασι ο Ποιμενάρχης διαπίστωσε τις εκτεταμένες ζημιές που προκλήθηκαν εντός των εγκαταστάσεων του ναού από τις έντονες βροχοπτώσεις.

Στην συνέχεια, ο Ποιμενάρχης επισκέφθηκε οικογένειες που διαβιούν στην πόλη του Γκέτεμποργκ και το βράδυ της ιδίας επέστρεψε με το τραίνο στην έδρα της Επαρχίας του, στην Στοκχόλμη.

Ανήμερα τα Χριστούγεννα, ο Σεβ. Μητροπολίτης κ. Κλεόπας προέστη της Θείας Λειτουργίας στον Καθεδρικό Ναό Αγίου Γεωργίου Στοκχόλμης, στην οποία συμμετείχε ο Πανοσιολ. Αρχιμανδρίτης κ. Βαρθολομαίος Ιατρίδης, Εφημέριος του ως άνω ναού.

Στο τέλος, οι μαθητές του Κατηχητικού Σχολείου έψαλλαν τα κάλαντα και τους προσφέρθηκαν σοκολάτες από τον Επίσκοπο και τον εφημέριο του ναού.

H.E. Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden and All Scandinavia visited the Parish of Gothenburg, on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2022, to stand by the flock of the Mother Church and to inspect the damages at the facilities of the Holy Trinity church, caused due to the heavy rains that hit the area in the previous days.

The Holy Metropolis immediately sent a special crew, which installed dehumidifiers in the church, removing the rainwater beforehand.

Due to the fact that the church will be out of order until its restoration, the Divine Liturgy scheduled for Saturday, December 24, 2022, following the request of Metropolitan Cleopas to H.E. Archbishop Benjamin of the Syrian-Aramean Community of Sweden, was held in the St. John parish of the Syrian-Aramean Community of Gothenburg.

The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the V. Rev. Archimandrite Alexandros Loukatos, Presiding Priest of the Metropolitan Church of the Annunciation of the Theotokos in Oslo, who traveled to Gothenburg by car.

At the Divine Liturgy, a sufficient number of parishioners from the wider area attended, especially young families with their children.

In his speech to the children, during the “Koinonikon”, the Bishop spoke about the importance of the Christmas holiday and the personality and philanthropic ministry of Saint Basil the Great, and Fr. Alexandros read the Christmas Episcopal Encyclical.

The religious gathering was attended by the Honorary Consul of Greece in Gothenburg Mr. Christos Kakazoukis with his parents, whom His Eminence thanked for his support in the work of the Holy Metropolis. The Consul welcomed His Eminence and wished the churchgoers a happy holiday.

The Bishop, addressing the Pastor of the Syrian-Aramean Community of Gothenburg Rev. Fr. Vesim Kurt, thanked him for his parish hospitality, and offered him the book dedicated to the Patriarchal Visit of 2019, along with the trilingual edition of the Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom.

His Eminence wished everyone for Christmas and expressed the full support of the local Church and himself personally for the recent ordeal, and promised that he will do everything he can to restore the damages to the church of the Holy Trinity.

He also informed the Gothenburg parishioners that the next prescheduled Divine Liturgy in the area will be celebrated on Sunday, January 8, 2023, by the V. Rev. Archimandrite Sosipatros Stefanoudis, in Toleredskyrkan, located at Vinlandsgatan 2, 417 29 Göteborg, kindly provided by the Lutheran Diocese of Gothenburg.

Immediately after, His Eminence and his entourage, consisting of Mr. Kakazoukis, Fr. Alexandros and members of the parish, visited the Holy Trinity church premises, where they personally witnessed the damages caused by the heavy rains.

Afterwards, the Metropolitan visited families living in the city of Gothenburg and that same evening returned by train to the headquarters of his Eparchy, in Stockholm.

On Christmas day, H.E. Metropolitan Cleopas presided over the Divine Liturgy, in the Cathedral of St. George in Stockholm, in which the V. Rev. Archimandrite Bartholomew Iatridis, Pastor of the aforementioned parish, participated.

At the end of the church services, the Sunday School students sang carols and received chocolates by the Bishop and the Parish Priest.

Εξοχώτατοι και Εντιμότατοι Άρχοντες,

Σεβαστοί Πατέρες,

Μέλη και φίλοι της Ι. Μητροπόλεως Σουηδίας και πάσης Σκανδιναυΐας,

Ο άνθρωπος της εποχής μας έχει κατακτήσει τόσα πολλά, ώστε να μπορεί να ισχυρίζεται ότι αισθάνεται αυτάρκης. Έχει δαμάσει την δύναμη του ατόμου, έχει εκμηδενίσει τις αποστάσεις, έχει σχεδόν εξουδετερώσει τις επιδημίες, έχει πλημμυρίσει την οικουμένη με τα φώτα της γνώσεως, έφθασε μέχρι το διάστημα! Τόση δύναμη και αυτοπεποίθηση ουδέποτε μέχρι τώρα αισθάνθηκε ο άνθρωπος.

Παρ’ όλη αυτή την φαινομενική παντοδυναμία, έρχονται στιγμές που αισθάνεται τον εαυτό του σχεδόν εκμηδενιζόμενο, όπως εν παραδείγματι ενώπιον των φυσικών φαινομένων. Μπορεί με τον σύγχρονο εξοπλισμό να τα προβλέψει, όμως οι τυφώνες και οι καταιγίδες καταισχύνουν την ανθρώπινη παντοδυναμία και αποδεικνύουν ότι είναι αδύναμος μπροστά τους.

Μεγάλη είναι, επίσης, η αδυναμία του ανθρώπου ενώπιον του ηθικού κακού. Αισθάνεται να τον περιβάλλει μίσος, συκοφαντία και τόσες άλλες ηθικές διαστροφές. Αδύναμος, λοιπόν, ακόμη ο άνθρωπος, να διαλευκάνει το μυστήριο της υπάρξεώς του και δημιουργίας, της προελεύσεώς του, του προορισμού του. Χωρίς την απάντηση σε αυτά, ο άνθρωπος αισθάνεται ανικανοποίητος, χωρίς προσανατολισμό και τελικώς δυστυχής.

Ποιος, άραγε, είναι αυτός, που θα συμπαρασταθεί στην ανθρώπινη αδυναμία; Την απάντηση την έδωσε ο απεσταλμένος άγγελος Κυρίου, που φανέρωσε το όνομα Του, ο Εμμανουήλ. Δεν απεκάλυψε μόνον το όνομά Του, αλλά είπε, ότι είναι μαζί μας.

Εμείς ξεχνούμε αυτή την πραγματικότητα και ζούμε, σαν να μην έγινε αυτή η αποκάλυψη για χάρη μας. Πόσο διαφορετικοί θα ήμασταν, αν ζούσαμε αυτή την πραγματικότητα. Ήρεμοι, ειρηνικοί, ισορροπημένοι και ευτυχισμένοι, βιώνοντας την παρουσία του Θεού στην καθημερινή μας ζωή!

Σημειώνει, σε πρόσφατο δημοσίευμά του, ο αγαπητός αδελφός π. Γεώργιος Πετράκης: “Ο άνθρωπος… χρεωκόπησε και βρέθηκε μέσα στην κόλαση που ο ίδιος δημιούργησε. Κι ενώ… τρέχει στον κατήφορο… προσπαθεί να πιαστεί και πάλι από τον κόσμο, που τον καταδίκασε στην… απώλεια. Ζητά την σωτηρία…από τον ίδιο του τον δήμιο !!! Και αρνείται πεισματικά να τείνει χέρι ικεσίας σ᾽ Αυτόν που τον αγαπά πραγματικά.”

Η φετινή χρονιά, Αδελφοί μου, κλείνει για την τοπική μας Εκκλησία με επιπλέον αισθήματα πνευματικής χαράς και καυχήσεως εν Κυρίω. Mετά από ψευδείς κατηγορίες που υιοθέτησε η Σουηδική εφημερίδα Göteborgsposten (GP), σε μια σειρά άρθρων της, η I. Μητρόπολις Σουηδίας υπεβλήθη σε δύο εξονυχιστικούς οικονομικούς ελέγχους, οι οποίοι διενεργήθηκαν τόσο από την Σουηδική Υπηρεσία Υποστηρίξεως Θρησκευτικών Κοινοτήτων (στην Σουηδική: Myndigheten för stöd till trossamfund “SST”), όσο και από την Σουηδική Φορολογική Υπηρεσία (στην Σουηδική: Skatteverket).

Και οι δύο έλεγχοι απήλλαξαν την Ι. Μητρόπολη από όλες τις κατηγορίες του GP και κατέληξαν στο συμπέρασμα, ότι τα οικονομικά της Ι. Μητροπόλεως ευρέθησαν εν τάξει και ότι όλα τα κρατικά κονδύλια αξιοποιήθηκαν από την Ι. Μητρόπολη απολύτως σύννομα και σύμφωνα με όσα ορίζει η Σουηδική νομοθεσία.

Ως εκ τούτου, και οι δύο έλεγχοι οδήγησαν στο ίδιο καταληκτικό συμπέρασμα, ότι ούτε οι κατηγορίες του GP, ούτε οι κατηγορίες των ατόμων που αναφέρονται στα άρθρα του GP, είχαν καμμία απολύτως ουσία, και ως εκ τούτου ήταν εντελώς αβάσιμες, ανυπόστατες και ψευδείς. Κατά πάντα και δια πάντα, δόξα τῷ Ἐπιφανέντι Θεῷ ἡμῶν!

Beloved Members and Friends of the Holy Metropolis of Sweden and All Scandinavia,

In today’s day and age, humanity has achieved so much that it could argue that it feels self-sufficient. It has mastered the power of the atom, made even the greatest of distances seem non-existent, practically neutralized epidemics, filled the universe with the light of knowledge, and even reached outer space! Mankind has never before experienced the strength and self-confidence that it has today.

However, despite this apparent omnipotence, there are moments when it feels itself being negated; for example, during natural disasters. Through modern technology, people may be able to predict their onset, however, hurricanes and storms put human omnipotence to shame and render us powerless against them.

Likewise, humans appear to be very defenseless against moral evil. People find themselves surrounded by hate, slander, and so many other moral vices. Therefore, we are yet incapable of solving the mystery of our existence and creation, our origin, and our purpose. Without the answers to these questions, humanity feels unfulfilled, lacking in direction, and ultimately unhappy.

Who is it, then, who can support humans in this weakness? The answer to this question was given by the angel of the Lord, who reveal the Prince of Peace’s name to us: Emmanuel. He not only revealed His name, but he told us that He is with us.

We forget this reality and live as if this revelation never took place for our benefit. How different would we be if we experienced this reality in our everyday lives! We would be calm, peaceful, balanced, and happy, experiencing the presence of God in our daily life!

In a recent publication, our beloved brother in Christ Fr. George Petrakis notes that: “man has… gone bankrupt and found himself in the hell that he himself has created. And although…he is on this downward spiral… he tries once again to grab hold of the world, which condemned him to… perdition. He seeks out salvation… from his very executioner!!! And he stubbornly refuses to stretch out his arms to entreat the help of Him Who truly loves him.”

Brethren, this year comes to an end leaving our local Church with even more feelings of spiritual joy and pride in the Lord. Following the false accusations adopted by the Swedish newspaper Göteborgsposten (GP) in a series of articles it ran, the Holy Metropolis of Sweden underwent two in-depth financial audits, which were conducted by the Swedish Agency for the Support of Religious Communities (Myndigheten för stöd till trossamfund “SST”), as well as the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket).

Both audits exonerated the Holy Metropolis of all the accusations made by GP and arrived at the conclusion that the Holy Metropolis’ finances were in good order, and that all state funds were utilized by the Holy Metropolis legitimately and in absolute accordance with the provisions of Swedish law.

Consequently, both audits reached the same conclusion; that neither the accusations made by GP, nor the accusation made by the individuals cited in GP’s articles possessed any substance whatsoever, and were therefore completely groundless, unfounded, and untrue. Glory to our Lord Who has manifested Himself to us for everything and through all things!

Η Ιερά Μητρόπολις Σουηδίας και πάσης Σκανδιναυΐας πληροφορεί το ποίμνιο της Μητρός Εκκλησίας στο Γκέτεμποργκ, ότι χθες το απόγευμα, 21 Δεκεμβρίου 2022, εξαιτίας των ισχυρών βροχοπτώσεων, που έπληξαν την περιοχή τις τελευταίες ημέρες, σημειώθηκαν πλημμύρες και ζημίες στις εγκαταστάσεις του Ιερού Ναού Αγίας Τριάδος Γκέτεμποργκ.

Η Ιερά Μητρόπολις ενημέρωσε πάραυτα την ασφαλιστική εταιρεία και την αρμόδια εταιρεία, συνεργείο της οποίας μετέβη εντός ολίγου στο ναό, από όπου απομάκρυναν τα όμβρια ύδατα και τοποθέτησαν αφυγραντήρες.

Μετά τη διαπίστωση της ζημίας, ο εμπειρογνώμων εκπρόσωπος της εταιρείας ενημέρωσε προσωπικώς τον Σεβ. Μητροπολίτη Σουηδίας κ. Κλεόπα, ότι μέχρι της αποκαταστάσεως των ζημιών, ο ναός θα είναι εκτός λειτουργίας, γι᾽ αυτό και δεν θα είναι προσβάσιμος στους πιστούς.

Κατόπιν τούτων, ο Σεβασμιώτατος Ποιμενάρχης μας απευθύνθηκε στον Σεβ. Αρχιεπίσκοπο της Συροϊακωβιτικής Κοινότητος Σουηδίας κ. Benjamin, τον ενημέρωσε για τα γενόμενα και τον παρεκάλεσε, να του παραχωρήσει το ναό της Συροϊακωβιτικής Κοινότητος Γκέτεμποργκ, για την τέλεση της Θείας Λειτουργίας, που έχει ήδη προγραμματισθεί για την παραμονή των Χριστουγέννων. Ο Σεβ. κ. Benjamin ανταποκρίθηκε θετικώς στο αίτημα του Ποιμενάρχου μας.

Επομένως, το Σάββατο, 24 Δεκεμβρίου 2022, η προγραμματισμένη Θεία Λειτουργία θα τελεστεί στο ναό του Αγίου Ιωάννου της Συροϊκωβιτικής Κοινότητος (S:t Juhannes Syrisk kyrkan), στην διεύθυνση Blässebogärdet 2 , 424 33 Angered/Hjälbo.

The Holy Metropolis of Sweden and All Scandinavia informs the flock of the Mother Church in Gothenburg, that yesterday evening, December 21, 2022 due to the heavy rains that hit the region in the last few days, there was flooding and damage to the facilities of the Holy Trinity Church in Gothenburg.The Holy Metropolis immediately informed the insurance company and the competent company, whose crew went to the church within shortly after, removed the rainwater and installed suitable mechanisms to remove the moisture.After establishing the damage, the expert representative of the company personally informed H.E. Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden that until the damage is repaired, the church will not be able to function, nor be accessible to the faithful.Following this, His Eminence addressed H.E. Archbishop Benjamin of the Syrian-Aramean Community of Sweden, informed him about the events and asked him to grant him the church of the Syrian-Aramean Community of Gothenburg, for the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, which is already planned for Christmas Eve.
